Southwood Square
Southwood Square was the first HOPE VI revitalization undertaken by COC. The effort included the demolition of the Southfield Village public housing complex and the development of mixed-income rental housing and homeownership opportunities. The design of the new community is in harmony with the architectural context of the surrounding neighborhood and the density of development has been significantly reduced from the much larger Southfield Village complex. As part of the HOPE VI program, the Chester Addison Community Center has been completely rehabilitated to provide upgraded interior spaces, replace original building systems, install elevators, provide handicapped accessibility and meet all current building codes.
Southwood Square was developed by COC in partnership with Beacon Corcoran Jennison Management, LP. Beacon is currently responsible for management and operation of Southwood Square. Inquiries regarding living at Southwood Square should be directed to the Southwood leasing office at (203) 964-0085.
